Twitter launches World Cup 2010 site

Popular micro-blogging site Twitter has launched his own mini-site for the World Cup 2010, featuring Tweets from players, teams and users related to the action in South Africa.

The new site, @worldcup, features a stream of top tweets, the full fixture list and individual team feeds.
'We've put together a special site to capture the spirit of the World Cup and it's already pulsing with activity,' Twitter co-founder Biz Stone stated in a blog post.
Twitter also posted a list of suggested accounts to follow over the course of the tournament, which kicks off on Friday with a match between host nation South Africa and Mexico.
Users can get involved by using either the #worldcup hashtag, or using a hash followed by the first three letters of their chosen team (e.g. #ENG). When using these tags, a football icon or the respective flag will appear at the end of a tweet.
Some teams have banned players from using Twitter during the World Cup, including hot favourites Spain.
