WAYNE ROONEY has apologised for his rant on live TV after England were booed off against Algeria.
The Manchester United striker was unhappy with the reaction of a section of fans, who made their feelings clear to the players at the full-time whistle.
He raged: "Nice to see your home fans boo you. That's what loyal support is."
But Rooney now admits he regrets the outburst following the goalless draw in Group C.
In an official FA statement, he said: "Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result.
"For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game."
England must beat Slovenia on Wednesday to progress to the World Cup knockout stages.
And Rooney has also issued a rallying cry he hopes will lead to unity as the Three Lions chase that crucial victory in South Africa.
He added: "I am as passionate about the England team as anyone.
"The most important thing now is to regroup, be positive and work towards winning the game on Wednesday.
"To do this the players will need the support of the fans more than ever."
Fair enough, but don't moan about something you are paid a fortune do it.
