Ronaldo immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds in London unveiled a waxwork of Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday, to coincide with the start of upcoming World Cup.

The waxwork depicts the world's most expensive player wearing the new Portugal strip as he strikes his distinctive pre-free kick pose.
The world-famous museum said the figure took four months to create and cost around 150,000 pounds (218,000 US dollars, 180,000 euros).
"The World Cup is one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar so it's fitting we're welcoming one of soccer's most exciting talents to the attraction to mark the occasion," said Liz Edwards, the museum's spokeswoman.
"2010 is definitely a football crazy year here at Madame Tussauds London. We have been overwhelmed with public requests to feature Cristiano Ronaldo and he will join the attraction hot on the heels of fellow international star, Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, who joined the attraction in February."
C.Ronaldo made history in 2009 when he transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid for the record sum of 80 million pounds (116 million US dollars, 97 million euros).
